By Florencia Braga Menendez
“football goal - satellite dish - shantytown - a shack, altar for all the brides - raft - a thousand paddles - flagpoles - pennants - grills - bed frames - beds - beds - beds – to be born, to do, to make, to hug, to die - a city that shivers - a city that knows all the coldness - and is afraid of it - waterworld - and the wind - swinging an anchored raft in the dry summits - the waiting - the expectation - the hope - the ropes - and love, always - in the eyes - hidden in the dirt - or behind a curtain - in the house - in the doghouse - in the desert - longing for shelter - dry - from the very first day of light - the poles and the implements - in the very first dawn, before any abundance”
